Oracle exchange, Tutorial and Training

    เมื่อพูดถึง Oracle หลายๆ ครั้งที่มักจะได้ยินคำต่อท้ายว่้า เป็น Enterprise Edition บ้าง  Standard Edition บ้าง  หรืออาจจะมี Edition ที่อาจจะไม่ค่อยได้ยินกันบ่อยๆ เช่น Standard One  แล้ว Edition เหล่านี้ต่างกันอย่าไร  Oracle วางแต่ละ Edition ไว้แบบไหน  ลองมาดูกันนะครับ  

    เริ่มจาก  Enterprise Edition  ชื่อก็บอกอยู่แล้วว่าเป็นระดับ Enterprise ซึ่งเป็น Edition ที่มี Feature ครบทุกอย่างที่ Oracle สา่มารถทำได้และครบทุก Option ที่สามารถกำหนดได้    แบ่งเป็น 

 -  ด้าน Security  Virtual Private Database (VPD) , Fine-Grained Auditing,  Database Vault, Advanced Security, และ Label Security

-   ด้่าน Warehouse  cross-platform transportable tablespaces, Information Lifecycle Management (ILM),materialized views query rewrite, และ   the Partitioning, OLAP, and Data Mining Options 

-   ด้าน High-availability  Data Guard and Flashback database, Flashback table, and Flashback transaction uery. ที่เพิ่มมาสำหรับ 11g คือ Advanced Compression Option for ll workloads,  transaction processing, Large Object (LOB) storage,and backups;  Database Replay และ SQL Performance Analyzer และ Flashback Data Archive

    รองลงมา  ก็คือ Standard Edition เป็น Edition สำหรับ องค์กรขนาดเล็กไปจนถึงขนาดกลาง   สามารถรองรับกับ Server  4CPU เท่านั้น  และสามารถทำ RAC (Real Application Cluster ) ได้ 

    ต่อมาเป็น Standard One Edition เป็น Edition สำหรับองค์การขนาดเล็ก  สามารถรองรับ Server 2 CPU เท่านั้น และไม่สนับสนุน RAC 

   อันดับสี่ คือ Personal Edition   ใช้สำหรับ Single Developer เพื่อทดสอบหรือพัฒนา Code สำหรับ Oracle เนืองจากว่า สามารถใช้งานได้ทุก Feature เหมือนกับแบบ EnterPrise 

   สุดท้าย คือ Expess Edition  เป็น Edition ที่ Oracle พัฒนาเป็น Free Edition  ใช้งา่นได้กับ Window และ  Linux รองรับ Database ที่ใช้งาน RAM  ไม่เกิน 1GB และ ขนาด Disk ใช้งานไม่เกิน 4GB  และตัด Feature หลายๆ อย่างออกไป เช่น ASM (Automatic Storage Management)  , Java Virtual Machine ,  บาง Feature ของ Backup และ Recovery  

   คงเป็นประโยชน์อยู่บ้าง ในการแยกแยะ Feature สำหรับ Edition ต่าง เพื่อให้เลือกมาใช้่งานได้อย่างเหมาะสม  Feature ลดลง ราคา License ก็ลงตามด้วยเหมือนกัน  ช่วงนี้เศรษฐกิจไม่ดี  ลดการใช้สิ่งของที่ไม่้จำเป็นได้เยอะ จะดีต่อสุขภาพทางเศรษฐกิจนะครับ
